MILITARY SPOUSES ON MISSION
-Megan B. Brown, author of “Summoned” and “Know What You Signed Up For,” and Stacey Morgan, author of “The Astronaut’s Wife,” are two military spouses partnering up for gospel missions towards the active-duty military community.
Biloxi, MS- Megan B. Brown, a military missionary, and Stacey Morgan, an Executive Leadership Coach for MOPS International, are working together to support and spread the gospel to the active-duty military community.
Megan is the Founder and Executive Director of MilSpo Co., a Christian 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to the intentional discipleship of the active-duty military community. By recruiting, training, and releasing military spouses as paid and prepared vocational missionaries, MilSpo Co. aims to build evangelism momentum in the military space.
Stacey is the military lead for MOPS Intl., a Christian nonprofit whose mission is to encourage and equip mothers to realize their potential as mothers, women, and leaders, in relationship with Jesus and in partnership with the local church. MOPS helps military leaders, chaplains, and moms create an authentic community where military moms can experience genuine friendship and transformational hope.
When Stacey launched her first book, "The Astronaut's Wife," in February of 2022, she publicly committed to donating 100% of her book sale proceeds to charities that support military families. A few months later, Stacey met Megan while promoting military initiatives for MOPS. After learning more about MilSpo Co.'s mission and goals, Stacey committed $10,000 to MilSpo Co. as the first donation to the Brook Leona Mission Sending Scholarship.
The Brook Leona Mission Sending Scholarship honors the Gold Star child who founded the scholarship in partnership with MilSpo Co. The scholarship provides tuition funding for military spouses to complete theological training towards a "Go" Certificate in Biblical Studies and Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. This flagship certificate includes seven core courses in Old and New Testaments, Theology, Ethics, and Bible Interpretation. Upon completion, graduates enter the military mission field, in partnership with MilSpo Co., as full-time missionaries to the military community.
Stacey's generous gift provides a full scholarship for ten military spouses to complete missionary certification. "It is my honor to support my fellow military spouses in this tangible way," Stacey says. "Military life is full of unique dangers, stresses, and heartache. But it is also full of purpose, adventure, and faith. Military spouses are the most courageous and resilient people I know. At the same time, I believe a relationship with Jesus provides a depth of hope and purpose that is essential to not just surviving but thriving in military life. I'm thrilled that my book creates opportunities for military spouses to minister to their local community and, ultimately, for military families to meet Jesus in a new and deeper way. It's truly my privilege to be a part of it."
